My dad used to say 'salubrious' a lot. If he liked a film, he'd get up and say "hmm, very salubrious." He didn't use words like that at all, usually. Just that one.

This thread reminds me of a sub-page Jawbox used to have on their website, in which they listed all the SAT words they used in their lyrics and what the definitions were. It was pretty funny stuff, and (I thought) only slightly pretentious.

Unfortunately the page itself seems to be gone (or at least I can't find it anymore, even using the Internet Wayback Machine) so anyone who didn't see it at the time will have to take my word for it.
