the new record, 23 is really smooth. Not sure on it just yet, as I haven't gotten to crank it in the car, which is the litmus test for me.
It's very soft on the edges. weird.

42I really want to hear this already.
They are another of my great favourites. They've been reliably intriguing with each new record. 'Misery Is A Butterfly' was an incredibly lush album that I really should have hated. I actually loved it and still do. The title track is a massive highlight amongst hightlights.
NOT CRAP!
No waffles.

I can't wait to hear their new stuff. How can you already have the album? are you friend from the T&G people? I wouldn't be surprised

I agree. Somebody sent me a copy of this record and it really captivated me, at least when the chick sings. I wish she sang lead on all the songs--when the guy sings, it loses some of its otherworldliness.
Still, not crap.

It's funny, I prefer Amedeo's voice to Kazu's almost straight across the board. I like the ache it conveys.
Seb J, my friend john sent me a copy of it today, I don't know how he got it. also, they've been off T&G for several records now. they're on 4AD.
kerble is right.

47Crap. Bought a few albums, not sure they even made it to the record shelf before they were back out the door again, completely bland

CRAP. and here's why...
a. what's it? are you talking about dancing here? wtf?
b. if you're not interested in working it, don't
c. what exactly does "new york-important" sound like? (other than blonde redhead)
I saw BR a bunch of times, and I have to agree with what Greg wrote. It's kind of hard to explain, I think. Yeah, the little dance moves are pretty tiresome. The cutesy Total Eclipse Of The Heart stuff that Amedeo and Kazu seem do at every GD show is really tiresome. It all feels too conformist and fashionable to me.
At the end of the day, BR sounds to me like a Cosmopolitan equivalent of alt. rock. It's pretty slick and intelligent and well done, but something about them rrrrrrrubs me the wrong way completely. It would've been best if I had never seen 'em.
CRAP.

49If any of you naysayers have written and recorded a song better than "U.F.O", I'm all ears.
Seriously.
Blonde Redhead is a great band -- good songwriters and talented musicians.
And since when is "hip" a bad quality? Do we really live in a day and age in every band has to demystify themselves to the point that they are just as boring as over half their audience? Frakly, I'm getting tired of beards and sweatshirts and Onion references.

just before they played this, amedeo would always ask the sound dude for more reverb. Song is dope.
I almost blacked out (well, whited out) when they played "I Am there while you Choke on Me" ...........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAELEVATOR'S COMING!!!
so good.
kerble is right.
