It's a great fashion accessory. I have one in every color for every outfit. Today, It's the apple green mini.
And, I get to listen to music while I go places with those trendy white earbud headphones that never stay in my ears.
It may sound bad, but boy do I fit in!

I didn't get one for a long time for this reason. When I got one is when I realized I could inexpensively put audio books, radio shows, college lectures and Diablo II podcasts on my iPod. I do a lot of driving and enough mindless work that made it worth it.
I had an iPod once, but got rid of it when it started pissing coffee onto my countertop.
Unfortunately, that image I posted may be lost forever, having been on a webserver account that no longer exists...

Do you really drive while wearing your iPod headphones?

44I believe there are cars that allow you to hook the Ipod into the stereo, thus negating the white earbuds.
Looking at the tiny Ipod screen while driving however is probably just as bad, if not worse.

Most CD players have them little holes on them which allow for MP3 player connection.

46Yeah, I use my iPod mini when I'm driving a lot through one of those tape adapter deals. It sounds pretty good. I try to navigate the little screen only when I'm moving in a straight line or when I'm stopped. The backlight makes it pretty easy at night.

You can control both crossfade playback or space gaps under your preferences.
Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead is pureley coincidental. Void where prohibited. Some assembly required. Subject to change without notice. Times approximate. Simulated picture. Driver does not carry cash.

yup, some stereos also have mini jacks, or you can install the necessary cable... i have a little box installed on the back of my stereo, attached to the "cd" button which toggles between iPod and the cd changer, with a cable running through the center console to behind the passenger seat (i have a miata) with a mini plug. these are available for quite a few makes of cars. (i've also seen this in a porsche and a pt cruiser). a coworker just got one for his RX-8 and spent about an hour installing it - his is pretty slick because it plugs into the bottom and powers it as well, and he can control the iPod somewhat with the steering wheel controls.

indeed... although i've gotten pretty good with finding the ff button by feel so i can just do that until it's safe to look.

this problem has nothing to do with crossfade or space gaps, as it is not comprable to the standard two second gap between songs on a cd.
it is by far my biggest pet pieve with the ipod. i love mine to death and i HATED them before i got mine as a birthday present, but having my entire cd collection fit comfortably in my pocket is nice.
since then, i've built up a substantial record collection as i can download all of the music online, and then just buy the records, which sound better anyways. (ok so not all, and i rely a lot on my friends who purchase the CD form of the album, but still..)
the gap between songs pisses me off so much. even if you crossfade, there's still a fucking glitch between every song. it's inappropriate, unnecessary, and it makes listening to albums that flow from song to song actually painful.
the other thing that you have to know when you buy an ipod is that it will likely break within a year. if you're lucky, it will break within 6 months, and apple will send you a brand spankin new one for free. the warranty lasts for a year, but in the last 6 months of that warranty, you have to pay for shipping ($30 too... for some reason they won't let you ship it standard mail).
i voted not crap because i like the interface. i've never used another mp3 player, but from what i've seen of them, they look a lot more difficult to navigate through, have more buttons (and buttons that actually jut out and such).
i'm a sucker for materialism and consumerism, but i fuckin love my ipod.
