I need my squash soup to be savory. Roasted butternut squash guys with sage or a bunch of shallots. And a nip of Knob Creek neat while I'm cooking, please.

This sounds delightful, and I don't even like squash.

When I hit the lottery, I'm flying you down here--yeah, you McGoo--to come and cook for me.

But until this happens, you must refrain from making me hungry.

closest possibility that i can think of is lakeview liquors (leavitt & roscoe), which isn't very close at all. i suppose try the foremost on the corner of california & milwaukee, but i'd be majorly surprised if they carried it. tho their beer selection is fairly on point.

dude, i'm sat around in a t-shirt, watching star trek with the door wide open, it's so mild, freakishly so. this is october, month of storms and swirly rain lashings!

the sky is blue, the sun is out. i'm wearing a dress when i go out later!

Go us Brits. I thought I was taking a chance last night by going to town in a flimsy (but excellent and horsey) shirt and a leather jacket, but as I proceeded to stroll the streets variously at two and five a.m. I was struck by the warmth I was feeling. I actually would like winter to come along soon; I have a wonderful duffel coat that I bought in Berlin which I love to wear. I also have my 'Marvin Gaye coat', which closely resembles the coat he wears on the cover of 'What's Going On' (a belt!) and which I enjoy telling people makes me look like Marvin Gaye. "But you're not black?" they say. HA! Anyway.

One of the few New Years Eve's I have enjoyed involved emerging from The Brudenell Social Club shortly after midnight to find Leeds Six ankle deep in surprising snow. The feeling was just of joy. Something about snow in the nighttime makes everything feel so great.

Come on, winter. Come on.
