Curmudgeonly, from weird experience, I feel like pointing out that monasteries are often open house. I point this out only from a mean-spirited personal dislike of the institutions, and not to distract from Scott Walker.

Scott Walker is incredible. As someone noted above, for someone to bring out a record as intense as the Drift at this stage of their life, they must have incredible store of creativity and dedication.

I swear to god, I have tried.

Really tried.

Can not make it through one entire song.

It's the voice.

He sounds as if he should be playing the lead in Phantom of the Opera.

I'm sorry. I will try some more.

It's weird stuff. Totally saccharine...it's like listening to the Carpenters.

I find it interesting. I don't think it's gonna magically click for you though...it might only cause you audio agony.

I think you are right.

I definitely have a physical reaction to it, that's for sure.

Scott has a new album due on September 24th. It's an instrumental album in four movements. Cool.

Singing legend Scott Walker has revealed details of his forthcoming
instrumental album, which will be titled, 'And Who Shall Go To The Ball?
And What Shall Go To The Ball?'

The album, being released on 4AD Records, will hit the shelves on
September 24.

'And Who...' is a wholly instrumental, 25-minute album broken down into
four movements.

The record is the result of Walker being commissioned to write music for a
contemporary dance piece by London's South Bank Centre.

This is the sound of me, exploding.

I just started listening to this fellow (thanks to a DL of the Fire Escape In The Sky comp).

Holy fuck, this is really good.

The melodrama of the delivery can be a bit much at times, but I used to be a musical theater kid so I'm sufficiently inured to such stuff to put it aside and focus on the fact that these songs are incredible.

This is basically all the best elements of Bacharach-esqe pop, Sinatra, and musical theater, coupled with lyrical and composition sophistication, dissonance, rather unexpected song structures, and general ballerness.

I officially have a new influence.
