That's a pretty stupid way to gauge the quality of a band.

I'll admit that I haven't heard the entirety of their work.

I listened to one of their albums in the car with a really fucking stupid punker friend of mine and was genuinely amazed at how fucking stupid their lyrics were. I felt like I was listening to music for angry special-ed children.

The energy was there, but that's a given. Stupid people are always frustrated/angry.

Black Flag is music for angry, stupid people. These fans are the same kind of people that will grow up, turn into alcoholics and beat their family members.

That's how I see it, at least.

i'm actually able to block out the lyrics most of the time, strangely enough. While their 'energy' may be a given to you, to me their angry lyrics are almost a given, and i love their heavy grooves once i'm able to muffle out henry.
