Do you make a living engineering?

If youre a real engineer, you get to put "PE" after your name. That's what you get, you certified and licensed bridge-and-power-plant-building, dangerous-chemical-mixing, special-engineering-school-graduates.

Complete domain over the use of the word "engineer?" You dont get that.

yes and it's jealously guarded by some. Woe betide the person who forgets to address formal corespondence to Sew N. Sow, PE. At least in some circles. In smaller consulting offices, there's generally only one of each discipline, and they get all the work. "Whydoncha give that to Jeff? He has the stamp, I'm just a glorified draftsman..."
