Adrian's solo records are always great. I recommend Op Zop To Wah the most. Unlike an awful lot of his guitar playing peers, he doesn't make music for other strictly guitar players.
And then him in the context of the Talking Heads is of course, nothing short of pure brilliance.

I prefer the old Talking Heads. They were a trio originally, for crying out loud. What's this business with 2 drummers, 2 bassists, 2 keyboardists?
Into the arena rock overdose.
It makes more sense if you think of it less in terms of arena rock and more in terms of funk ensembles.

What else?
If you like this, you should check out Michael Hedges. Apologies if someone mentioned him already.

Have any of you guys listened to Stevie Ray Vaughan? He was some player. The sound he got from his guitar was something else.

Scuttle Buttin was a bit of a riff too:

But of course, Jimi Hendrix was fucking amazing. Mitch Mitchell's drumming was great on this one too. The second solo is just something else:

Suprised
this dude hasn't been mentioned.
Perhaps not as fancy as some of those mentioned here, but far more enjoyable than most.

Fahey is surely the opposite of 'fancy', whatever the opposite of fancy
is.

ANTI-FANCY*
Must be pronounced in a "doomy" voice
