Get the most gacky one you can find and smear wood glue all over it. When you peel it off it looks near new.I cannot recommend strongly enough that people reading this thread should try this. Even if it's just once. It does an outstanding job and is a fun little project.

Here's a cheap solution:http://www.kabusa.com/frameset.htm?/rcleaner.htmhttp://www.tnt-audio.com/accessories/kabev1\_e.htmlIn fact, I think I'll sell my Nitty Gritty 2.5 (in Jatoba wood) and get one of these. I buy much fewer records these days so manual spinning is less of an issue and I bet I could get $500 for mine on eBay...

I still think the only way to lift and remove the dirt and make sure it is not redeposited or ground further in the groove is to vacuum it out.Just save up for one of these1:http://www.needledoctor.com/Nitty-Gritt ... tegory=106

Found out the hard way that if you do - it kills the brushes. One batch of water/fluid mix cleans approx 10-15 records before it starts to look scary. The results make me smile, even though it becomes a freakin' event when I pull out our dish drainer and lay down towels on the coffee table and all that shit. Great for weekends when my wife goes to bed and I'm still jacked up on coffee.

The majority of my records aren't that old/scratched/dirty etc, (1 month to 30 years old) so would you still suggest I buy a VPI? In this case, is this machine of good quality for the price? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VPI-HW16-5-Reco ... 405wt\_1344At the moment I use a carbon fiber brush, but no cleaning solution. This tends to move the dust to another part of the record, which I then try to remove with a felt cloth, by blowing hard, or in extreme cases using a can of compressed air (which I want to avoid doing). Is cleaning solution and a felt cloth a better idea? Or, would this stanton product work? http://www.amazon.com/Stanton-Magnetics ... 591&sr=8-6 I must live in the dustiest house in NYC (despite continually cleaning it), and so I seem to be brushing dust off my records every time I to play them. How often should I clean the records, and if I do it before and after each use, will this cause sufficient wear to the grooves? Thanks,D
