The use of the word "amazing" may once have had its merits.

But when Albini described the Nerves as an "amazing band" on Jan. 1, 1998, I think it was clear to everyone in the audience that the man had run out of nice things to say. While the Nerves did not totally suck or anything, I'll venture that few, if any, present were amazed by that band.

"Amazing" does not have to mean "good."
