What have I got myself into?

Normally, not my kind of music, but I have to agree the the cuts I've heard of his album are way too catchy. Sounds like a cross between Queen and Yellow Submarine era Beatles.

It can't be as bad as seeing the Dave Matthews Band at Alpine Valley to keep the peace with her. I knew going into that that I would hate it.

She did agree to see Suicide when they played at Double Door, and the Stooges at the Congress, so I guess fair is fair. She wasn't so thrilled with Suicide (she liked the album I played better), but she really liked the Stooges.

Why not just go to gigs without your girlfriend and your girlfriend go to gigs without you?

Just a thought.

Believe me, that happens a lot. I passed on Gwen Stefani and the Black-Eyed Peas, Paul McCartney, several more Dave Matthews shows. She has turned down other shows I've asked if her to attend with me, like Nick Cave and Ute Lemper. In fact, with Nick Cave I think she had something else come up at the same time she had to attend, so she had to bow out of that one. I just didn't feel I could turn down every show she asks me to go to. I'm pretty sure I could tolerate Mika over Gwen Stefani and the Black-Eyed Peas, plus I will at least be in the familar surroundings of Metro. If it becomes too much, I could bail and go to the Gingerman next door or something.

We're pretty tolerant of what the other likes, and we both understand if the other doesn't want to go a show she or I want to attend.

You are to be piss in the ear! So lames!

My musical interests do extend quite a bit beyond power electronics. Besides the previously mentioned neo-folk, I like old garage/psych rock, old punk, especially art punk, like Wire and Metal Urbain, some hardcore, such as the Germs old glam rock, Ute Lemper, who I've seen about 5 or 6 times live. Also Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, some black metal, etc. Also, some older reggae, and some early hip-hop and funk, and especially Parliament/Funkadelic. I could really go on and on. In the guilty pleasures thread I started, I mentioned that I even like the song "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies (I can't really figure out why on that one).
