Thing is, DA is not categorically my "type" of music. I always pay special attention to tunes that break me out of my genre-cage, and "Chums" is one of them. Salutidad.

My parents got me the Mooger Fooger modulator as a graduation from college gift last month. I've been plugging everything short of the cat into it.
Plugging the LFO out into the carrier in gives you a quick and dirty metronome. Running the guitar through a splitter and hitting both the instrument in and carrier in so that it modulates itself (1 8ve up, heavily distorted, nothing downstairs) or running an octave divided signal into the carrier (thus yielding 1 8ve down and a V up). I like how you can run the carrier into the instrument input to make it into its own analog synth. It's also very crafty on drums, like say the drum intro to Rapeman's "Trouser Minnow" or Kylesa's "Descend Within" set on a constant 1 bar loop.
I'd have to say that the only thing that I don't like about it is that in some instances/settings it seems like I'd have to completely relearn how to play guitar, and I don't want to do that.

I always tuned mine to whatever key I was playing and that kept it from being too weird when I didn't want it to.

ps, I just remembered that I have some samples I made with a Telecaster and Moog Ring Mod into a very old no name tube amp. I'll put them up when I find them---they might be of particular interest to anyone who's curious about the effect but is not interested in the stereotypical ring mod thing.

Okay,
HERE are the clips I mentioned.
The signal chain was generally Telecaster (ash body) > moog ring mod (set to overdrive the amp just a bit) > sometimes a maxon ad-9 modified with a self oscillate switch by Oliver of Death by Audio > a little no name 12-15 watt (forgot) combo amp that closely resembled a Deluxe.
It was recorded with my shitty computer mic, so the results are lo-fi, to say the least, but I think they still sound kind of cool. They're just up here to show what all you can do with that Moog box.

I've tried the bit with tuning it to the key, it's just that there are certain intervals that come up less pleasant than others. Still a fun gadget, though.

The only thing that kind of sucks about the moog is the extreme amount of tweaking you can do with the thing. cool for fucking around but kind of a headache when you're trying to get certain sounds at a practice or something.
