Brian Paulson. Who's been known to pop up around these parts.

For the record, he also did a beautiful job with Polvo's This Eclipse, which for my record-buying dollar, was their aesthetic peak. (No disrespect meant to Bob Weston, who did a beautiful job on a lot of their other stuff.)

well, according to these cats, that's a good example of what the word "irony" denotes. read everything they have to say here. i won't flinch if you come back saying "that website is wrong". it's my lazy-ass reference, though.

It's not wrong, but it says that under usage and not definition.

The words ironic, irony, and ironically are sometimes used of events and circumstances that might better be described as simply “coincidental” or “improbable,”

waitasec... you're saying that i just posted a link to a definition of irony, trying to show that it means something, but actually the very link that i posted shows it to mean the exact opposite?!?! is that ironic or what!?

she too says they are all coincidences, not irony.

Well, actually I would argue that most of those are not even coincidences* but instead they are just "bummers"**

* Coincidence: "Like, oh my god! We both showed up at the party totally wearing the same dress!"

** Bummer: Rain on your wedding day, bugs in yer booze, etc...

Yes. They are all, I believe without exception, simply bummers. There is nothing ironic about rain on your wedding day or paying money for a free ride.

I thought I'd vanquished this unruly demon from my tiny life. The last effin' place I expected it to re-surface was in this forum. How ironic. Or not, as the case may be.
