Just asking.

I'd still call 911 and tell them that a dude with a gun is mutilating someone in an alley. Act like you had no idea it was a cop.

If it came back to me in some sort of tell anyone and I'll make your life hell way, I would say, "you don't have the balls," or "get a real job."
They'll leave you alone. Shame is more powerful than any weapon or badge.

I'm uncomfortable calling the police in many instances, and this was indeed one of them. There are a few reasons for this.

For one, as Colonel Panic has stated, many policemen are indeed addicted to sadistic brutality. They are also incapable of thinking for themselves, for the most part, and I don't tend to place much trust in people cut from that cloth, no matter how noble the goals for the protection of which they've dedicated their lives.

Secondly, I'm not interested in getting average, working people in hot water for crimes they are *potentially* liable to commit in any given instance. In this particular one, there was no guarantee that a fight was even imminent. And, even if there were, there was no guarantee that it would be the complete near-slaughter that it eventually turned out to be. To involve these kids in being arrested, spending their hard-earned money on bail, and possibly ruining their employment chances in the future, is not something in which I'm interested.

That seems like a pretty rational defense for my behavior, although, in retrospect, it's easy to question our own motives. I know that my motives in this case weren't prurient by any stretch of the imagination: I'm someone who loathes violence and who loathes those who commit it.

So if any of you idiots want to throw insults my way, you can, essentially, suck my dick.

now, let's have a look at that dick of yours.

What part of it was patronizing? Calling most police officers sadistic and stupid and, consequently, not wanting to involve normal people in struggles with the law and, potentially, police abuse? Because, if that's what is offending you, perhaps you'd like to argue against it.

Or is it the part about not making *potential* criminals financially liable for my own (perhaps overblown) estimations of their potential actions? How is this patronizing? Perhaps you would like to note on your job applications the fact that you've been arrested and convicted of a misdemeanor, but most of us are scared of this contingency.

I await your arguments.

you know the deal nerblybear... no dick, no arguments.

well, maybe just a small one, eh?

Do you really expect people to accept that your thought process, in between being agog and puking up, were "No way am I callin' The Man on these hard-working American Joes"?

Rather than get into a dispute where I suggest that you're trying to garner support from EA's Class War crew given that, if your claimed inexperience is anything to go by, you know FUCK ALL about the police first hand, I'll just ask you to revisit your statement and make a mature decision on whether or not it was a remotely sensible thing to say, and whether you choose to remain 100% behind the suggestion that the majority of policefolks are sadistic and stupid, relative to the populace.

nerbly wrote:Or is it the part about not making *potential* criminals
In my experience, most of the time, *potential* criminals would have gotten moved on, not had their entire , doubtless glowing, careers wrested from them. They might even have been stopped from realising their potential and becoming *actual* criminals, who in this instance (i.e. mob violence) get what they deserve.
think on son, and unzip your shorts whilst you're at it, provided that they aren't as full of shit as your current persona.

(Not that I believe for one second that Clocker Bob didn't actually believe what he posted.)

god I hate looking at your picture, it's like Frank Black jumping out and trying to make out with me or something everytime I open a page.

I would NEVER EVER EVER call the Chicago police in ANY circumstance EVER.
They are no help to anyone, they will make it worse no matter what it is.
I don't know if I ever told the story on here about stopping the girl from getting raped on Halsted a few years ago but long story short, we were going to see a movie at Landmark....fahrenheit 9/11 actually...we were sitting in my car smoking a joint before we went in...anyway, we hear a girl scream a terrified scream....we get out and look, there's a dude on top of a girl in the grass trying to get her pants down right there on the side of the street about half a block up...we yell and run towards them, he gets up and runs we chase him for a bit while the cops are called....we lose him, the cops show up 45 minutes later and don;t even get out of their car, they yell at her for walking home alone in such 'bar slut' clothing and yell at us for smelling like weed 'oh the stoners here will make GREAT witnesses' they don't even ask what the dude looked like.
The dude they eventually caught for raping a shitload of women in that area months and months later, I saw the sketch on the sun times cover and yep, same dude same clothes everything.
They only caught him because a girl who he tried to rape clawed his eyeballs out of his head.
