Some weird choices for what makes a bad album cover here. Just shows everyone has different taste. I'd say that both the Knock,Knock and Signals, Calls, and Marches are good album covers.

The musical taste is subjective too. It's a bit light for this forum, but I've always thought the South album From Here on In was very good. But the LP had atrocious cover art:



Looks like it should be for the Beastie Boys, and is rather incongruous with the music. Fortunately I can only find a small version of it, so you don't have to be struck by it's hideousness.

I've collected some wonderfully bad cover art over the years, but they're usually by wonderfully bad musicians as well (Boobie Knight, L.V. Johnson, Mr. Blackfoot - a whole host of dreadful soul/R&B/funk monstrosities.)

...but this is a bad album. The album cover is so bad it's good now. It just had to find it's time. And it's time is now.

However, this is a good album with questionable cover art:



...though not as good as It's Just Begun. However, Jimmy Castor is a bad ass.

I've always hated this cover:



...but I wouldn't call this a good album either.

A fine album. And Reg may be a fine illustrator, but this My Little Pony of Teen Angst Fairyland Cover is complete crap.

Yeah. I kind of thought the same thing after I wrote it. Though I was thinking it would make an excellent song title. However, I give it to you, in exchange for a love ballad on said album.

I concur with tommydski, not very good art this skwm. i especially did not like the paintings on Firewater.

Actual True Story:

Several years ago, a good friend of mine was in the Bronx Museum for the Arts emerging artists program.

Naturally, she invited me to the exhibition that was the culmination of the program.

As I was walking around looking at the pieces, I saw one that was very familiar!



There it was! On the wall! So exciting to me, to see the album cover of the Silkworm at a wine and cheese type reception!

While I was looking at the painting, the artist came over to talk to me. He was very nice, and was surprised I had seen the picture before. Hiroshi Kimura! Your art is not crap! One day, I hope to have one of your fine artworks in my home!
