Apparently he doesn't record bands, just mixes them.

In fairness to J. Hall, no amount of mixing could help three of the bands currently on his MySpace page (Life in Jersey, Satellite Soul, Flee the Seen) as they are maximum suck. So we really shouldn't blame him for having compounded the problem.

In the Pines I might reserve judgement on. I think I might like it if I were in a mellow mood, and it was recorded and mixed a bit differently, and if I didn't mind they were a bite on some other band whose name escapes me at the moment. . .
