Unfortunately I never met Raymond. I was invited to the wake by the family. Worked at sony/columbia at the time and CBS had just started making noise about digging up old Quartet stuff. I was very vocal about including it as a feature for the Columbia House R+C Club (remember those?). We featured it a ton when it came out (Reckless Nights and Turkish Twilights), and it did well. That was one of a few products at the time that helped the resurgence of his Quartet shortly before he passed away. Anyway, I was kinda attached to the RN+TT CD, even at my lowly position. I would have walked through hell to arrive early.

Hey...I don't know anything about his work other than the obvious. Any links to this quartet material?

The band's name was the Raymond Scott Quintette. You'll have better luck searching the right name.

To avoid confusion I should point out that the Quintette music and Scott's electronic music are totally separate things.

Jesus. He's right. ROFL. I need some sleep. It's the QUINTETTE - Raymond Scott Quintette. I'd buy the CD I was talking about - Restless Nights and Turkish Twilights. It's a great collection of the CBS stuff. Quintette stuff. LOL.

I fucking hate it when my old-ass brain farts like that.

and the Quintette's material is most well-known from its use in warner bros. cartoons...

Yeah, but Raymond Scott had nothing to do with that.

Warner Bros. bought the rights to the Quintette music. Carl Stalling was able to appropriate it for use in the cartoons without needing permission.

From what I've read, Raymond Scott didn't like cartoons and wasn't happy about his music being used in them. Even though it works beautifully.
