Your a real prick, aren't you? You think everyone who downloads doesn't buy music? Hell, what do you say to bands that fucking uploaded their own music to sites like oink?

Imaginary files on a hard drive no more make up a better substitute for music than Pizza Hut does for pizza. This is the same argument from the 80's about VHS killing the film industry. Without downloading, I wouldn't have bought most of my goddamn albums.

I only use IndieTorrents myself. I was invited once to OiNK, but found it to be a bit too much for my liking. That and the IT forums can be pretty rad like here.

Unfortunately, IT is hiding from, chances are, massive amounts of OiNK users who are clambering for a new tracker to use. Check it out. that said, my shit is still seeding.

Shit shit shit and shit!!!!!!

I used oink for the first time only two months ago, thanks to nice EA forum member mister kenoki who sent me an invitation.

That sucks big time!!!!
Oink was definitely the best website around.

But the weird thing is that on monday evening, I downloaded some stuff (2 albums from Floor that I have on vinyl).

now, I think it's a really dick move to say someone "doesn't get it" because it's such a contrived thing to say.

but holy shit. you really don't fucking get it.

CDs sound like shit and MP3s are even worse. They are really nothing more than samples of a much better thing. The benefit of finding music online is that it allows you to check out the killer:filler ratio of a recording before you purchase the real item.

I remember constantly feeling ripped off as a kid after buying albums with only two or three decent tracks. Those days are gone.

The Geller MP3s that I posted on this thread http://www.electrical.com/phpBB2/viewto ... 9&start=20
would sound much better on vinyl.

You steal music, which is bad enough, and then you thoughtlessly go on the Electrical Audio message boards talking about stealing music, and telling people how to steal music.

Steve Albini would be well within his rights to put the kibosh on all of you pricks. In fact he's stupid not to. Why would he want a Web site associated with his business to have a bunch of asshole kids helping people steal music?

I have absolutely fucking had it with the sense of entitlement that you assholes have. You want to sit on your fucking asses and take the creative work of people you claim to respect, for nothing. And you want to cry like fucking bitches the minute it appears that this right might, in any little way, be taken away from you.

Go to the fucking record store, cunts. Mail-order goes everywhere now, pricks. Buy music, fucking twats.

Hi, I'm from the 3rd world, I can't afford to buy records/cds

Colonel Panic wrote:Actually, spammers seem to have picked up on some of these kinds of searches, because searching for a popular band + the word "rapidshare" or "megaupload" will yield a shit-ton of spam results.

So a lot of times I just look for blog site names in the url. Those kinds of searches are still fairly reliable.

This is why using site instead of inurl would be preferred in these kinds of searches, for the ultra-prick spammers who put fake rapidshare/blogspot names in the URL as well. Instead of:

Code: Select all

"The Speed Of Cattle" "archers of loaf" inurl:blogspot

use

Code: Select all

"The Speed Of Cattle" "archers of loaf" site:blogspot.com

Obviously in this example we found what we needed right away, but the point remains. I'm not sure how rampant the use of fake URL names is, but if you want to specifically search one site, site will yield better results than inurl in most cases.

PS - Great post about the google searching tips, incredibly useful...
