I wonder if anyone cares about that one anymore. It was expensive in 1994, right after I bought it.

Aaah, the other Das Damen fans outs himself!

I AM NO LONGER ALONE.

Perhaps I will post a picture of me, in high school, wearing paisley while playing loud rock.
Perhaps not.

The Damens, they didn't age well, except for a few songs. Victims of (generally) shit production and bad ideas executed.
But, I have to say, they kinda blew Nirvana off the stage when I saw them at the Cat's Cradle. It was a battle of guitar heroics vs. guitar anti-heroics that night, and it was cool to see some guys embracing their love of Nuggets music in a very punk rock period of history.

And the intro to Chain Drive is pretty heavy
"Chunk Chunka BLAH, Chunk Chunka BLAH!"

I hope those guys are doing well. The Song For Michael Jackson to $ell debacle was an underappreciated piece of protest.

Salut NYC acid rock loving dudes!

Also, I heard that Jim married Bebe Buell, which is nuts. She has to be 15 years his senior (although she is still gorgeous). I'm certianly OK with the older woman thing.
I wonder how he feels about putting his wenus in the "rock and roll 'hall' of fame," if you know what I'm sayin'.
...and I think ya do know what I'm sayin'.

Yup, they've been married for about 4 years. It blows my mind.

He's in a new band too, called Twin Engines. I am scared to listen.
I make music/I also make pretty pictures

I spent $40 on Big Black's Talk About Fucking in 1996. I was 18 and this a shitload of money for me then.

Another $40 on Big Black's Tonight We Stood With Giants.

Finally, less than a year ago, I saw Big Black's Sound of Impact at Reckless for $40. I bought it even though I didn't have a turntable. I heard it once at my editor's house.
I've seen the bridges burning in the night.

My next-door neighbor, a former fanzine writer about 20 years my elder, *gave* me a good chunk of his record collection when he moved.

Among the choice items were a copy of Branca's "The Ascension," an early pressing of Pere Ubu's "The Modern Dance," as well as Beefheart's "Safe as Milk."As 16-year old at the time who had purchased his first turntable only a year before, that was quite a milestone in my wax-collecting life.

After that, I only rarely indulged in collecting true collectables.
The Rapeman "Inky's Buttcrack" 7", the Sonic Honey/Mud Youth 7", the Bela Lugosi's Dead 12" single, and a couple other things were the only "collector's items" I ever picked up.

I don't think I've ever conciously bought a record thinking it was collectable. I did, however, go to Reckless Records (on Broadway in Chicago)and look at the records on display behind the counter, and count the number of records on display that I already owned. I do have the 2 Fix 45's. I think I paid $2.00 a piece when they were released.

I can think of only a few people whose record collections I covet, and yours is certainly one of them. You have everyfucking thing I ever even heard existed.
