I think the "through" feature is the most interesting part of the virus b on paper. I've not had a vocoder in many years (I had the tabletop Boss Voice Transformer maybe six years back, which was cool, but not enough to keep). I've never run a hardware module, but I'm assuming it's fairly straightforward connecting it to a modern keyboard.

the Baldwin Discoverer. It's fantastic. not quite a synth, but it is one of the first portble keyboards manufactured. I think it's from the 60's, and mine is in impeccable condition. it's basically a tabletop version of those excellent home organs (kinda like my Lowrey duo Symphonic), but without the 2nd keyboard, bass foot pedals and leslie. It als doesn't weigh 500 pounds. Totally going to be part of my live set up, for sure.

It has the "Rhythm ace" style drum machine, albeit simplified (no snare cancel), the chord genie, and a sequencer, whih I haven't been able to figure out. I haven't seen a manual for one yet, so I'll have to wait until I can score one to do so.

fucking hell, this thing is awesome. I've gotten to play it some more since I got back stateside. it's currently on the top tier of my keyboard rack above the Juno 6, and it looks and sounds like a champ.

the BEST thing is the "mic" input, which is just a 1/4" jack. I plugged the Juno 6 into it, and can run both keyboards through the speaker on the Baldwin. there's a level knob for the mic, so it's really simple to balance the two out. holy mother of god it's fun. the two sound really great together to boot. I don't have to set up an amp or headphones anymore to play my keys in the house!

Just got an Evolver desktop this week, and I've been playing with it today here and there between calls at work. Totally ripping industrial madness. It is nice to have a sequencer too. I'm tempted to make a 4x16 knob or fader box for it, but you gotta have priorities. First I want to make a simple 1x8 analog sequencer for my modular. I don't think I'd build a crazy 64 fader midi box unless I found a whole shitload of tiny faders in the garbage.

Wait a minute, I' bet I've got a broken 32 band graphic eq around somewhere... great, another project to never finish.

Anyway, the evolver... effin awesome.

So the "Baby Ten" might say something to you?
You have a modular? I'm intrigued...

Power? Yeah, it can get ridiculous. As a very rough figure, a synth module uses about as much power as a guitar pedal (probably less, if it's well designed). Then again, if you have 60 modules...

I'll give you a hell yeah on that. I gain almost no pleasure from playing most fixed architechture, keyboard instrument synthesizers. Make it patchable and get rid of the keyboard and then things start getting interesting...
