i read an interview with the screenwriter cody diablo who also did that sex worker blog "pussy ranch."

it was as boring and dull as your average indie rock chick. the interview was, i mean.

haven't seen the movie. since i read the interview with the writer i have no intention of seeing the movie. i had before as it had michael cera in it. and he was great in arrested development and superbad.

i think the interview was in entertainment weekly. i had a morning to kill in a waiting room. i read a bunch of entertainment weekly's and people's.

I was thinking there'd only be one or two not crap votes for this movie. Then again, Fear got a lot of crap votes.

It was mildly cute and enjoyable, that's all. I guess that makes it not crap.

I think all of the criticisms being lobbed at it are fairly spot-on; any mention of Diablo Cody bothers me, I expect it's because she managed to squeeze out one moderately interesting screenplay and now people are hailing her as some kind of new and "original" voice - give me a break.

This could all be hearsay, but it sounds ominously like Hollywood:

"...A two picture deal with Warner Bros. Pictures (WB) followed, the first 'Untitled Cody Drama" carries the log line "...centers on a group of twentysomethings at the crossroads of their lives." Does that tag sound vaguely familiar and bromidic? The two script WB deal includes a second blind script."

It's pretty absurd.

Just watched it. The screenplay was fucking unbearable. It actually managed to make me loathe Ellen Page, whom I love most of the time.

wf 2 for Juno's parents. They were funny. But then minus that 1 point for the conversations between Juno and Jason Batemen. Ugh.

i agree with dr. awkward, everything he said, regarding this film.

I guess it was easier for me to enjoy this movie because I didn't have to worry about what Diablo Cody is like, whether or not critics liked it, whether or not critics liked it more than they "should have," whether or not annoying co-workers liked it, whether or not the term "original voice" is correctly applied to the screenplay or writer, whether or not it was good enough to deserve the music that was in it, whether I agreed with the choice of typography for the opening titles, etc.

I did find some of the dialogue annoying. I also thought some of the murders in Pulp Fiction were morally wrong. Fortunately, I don't mind watching a movie where characters have flaws (whether minor or major).

Not Crap. There were things I didn't like about it, but nothing rising to a Waffle Factor.

I will stand by my taking you up on that bet, although much to my utter dismay it's looking like you are the favorite at this point.
