OMG this is beyond ironic. You do realize that your post here is no less unfunny or bad-mannered than the one that started this thread, right? You do realize that using the expression "fucking retard" to disparage someone is really no different than saying "I hate lesbians" except for the parts where he was joking and you're not, and where disparaging disadvantaged folks who have no say in whether or not they're retarded is extra douchey... using speech that casually hates a whole class of people to talk down on someone who used speech to casually hate a whole class of people. good one.

I disagree with this. For better or for worse, "retard" is a pretty common insult which I've seen used here countless times. Unpleasant as it is, I think that this usage is divorced here from people with learning difficulties.

Stating "I hate lesbians" is clearly formulated to express hatred of lesbians, albeit as a rather lame joke in this case. This is entirely different.

I try to avoid using"retard" as an insult nowadays as I know people for whom it is genuinely offensive, but I certainly would not accuse Adam of being bigoted.

Unless, of course, you are joking, in which case I apologise for my own dimness and will run away as quickly as possible.

Edit: Just seen Adam's response. Well, there you go... Language matters.

Marsupialized and C. Panic were the only ones to look the other way on the crass beginnings of this thread. In doing so, they added light hearted stories of their love for lesbians which seemed to turn the tread around. I got interesting for a while then this shit started........

Naw, I'm actually not as "politically correct" as I was months or years ago. I don't give too much of a fuck who says what stupid shit about who. But I just thought with the irony of what was happening with that one post in particular, I would jump on the chance to call someone a douche.
