Inexplicable Choice For a Single

I think that´s what makes it a strong choice. It´s a very striking song, IMO. Also, to use a bullshit marketing term, it makes a statement about the new record. Sparse songs with strange beats have been popular as of late, anyway. Hollerback Girl comes to mind (I´m serious).

I agree that Puss was a weak choice. I like the song, but I don´t think it says enough about what made the band so distinctive (which is how any band should be introduced to new people, IMO). And it was a repeat from Liar, so I never bothered buying the single anyway.

I´m trying to remember if Sonic Youth ever used one of the tunes Ranaldo sung as a single, if not, bad decision right there.

Rats would have been ok off the last one.

Nirvana - should have released 'Radio Friendly Unit Shifter' or indeed 'Milk It' ....they put out 'All Apologies'.

From Nevermind they put 'In Bloom' when it really should have been 'Breed'.

i always thought that if they were going to use a Liar track, Gladiator would have been a much more representative choice.

seconded.

You realize that that song wasn't recorded during the Marquee Moon sessions, right? Little Johnny Jewel is one of my favorite Television songs for sure.

no, i'm retarded.

also, the "single version" of "down on the street" was a bad choice for a single.

that organ...so out of place.

I think Jacko should have put out 'Baby Be Mine' and 'The Lady In My Life' off of Thriller

yes, hoarfrost or whatever it's called off 1000 leaves, maybe the weakest song off that record...maybe the weakest recorded Lee SY moment overall

I disagree. I weathered Smells Like Teen Spirit, In Bloom is the song that got me interested.

Didn't pretty much every track on Nevermind end up a single anyway?

A lot of folk don't seem to like this album so far. I like it a lot, I think people just aren't prepared to sit and give something a lot of time these days.

In Bloom
On A Plain
Lounge Act

Those were probably the three best songs on that album.

Smells Like Teen Spirit was an excellent single though. Cha-ching!

I have no suggestions for bands picking the wrong songs for their singles, because I can hardly think of any singles in the first place. Um... instead of Outshined, Soundgarden should used Room A Thousand Years Wide or Mind Riot or something? Yeah, I got nothin.
