and the key here is to have separate volume controls so you can blend em right. if they're out of phase and at the same level, it's gonna sound too thin and not so great. but if one is slightly than the other, there ya go. Ric-like sound.

it's easy enough to try out. unsolder and flip the two leads from one pickup. done. if the ground wire is connected to the pickup casing/cover, that can be crummy when you flip the leads cause then when you touch it, you're touching signal hot which makes heinous noise.

i might try this out on my jazz bass.

yes but you are the man who swears blind that his ibanez can mimic perfectly a tb500 arent you? you chat poo my friend. sure it could sound vaguely simarler, but i can get a strat to sound vaguely simarler to a 500 in the sense that its an electric guitar and they are all roughly in the same ball park being electric guitars. however, if you take the arse fluff out of your ears you can notice it sounds very different. does mick jagger sound like van morrison? in the sense that they are both human i suppose, but, i have been told, its actually two different people singing, with different voice boxes!?! unbelievable i know.

if the man wants to get rid of his egc fair enough.

holmes,

we're going way off-topic here, but please record a sample of your TB500 direct, with no effects or amp or anything, producing a tone you think I can't copy with that Ibanez. and I'll record myself playing a second guitar part to go with it that has the same tone. It'll be fun. we'll all learn things.

And yes, I think I already wrote something like "or sell it." I don't think anybody should keep an instrument that they don't feel inclined to keep, even bearing in mind that the "oh man, I wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of that rare XYZ" stories seem to outnumber the "oh man I wish I got rid of that rare XYZ a few years ago" stories by what, 10 to 1?

Sell it. If anybody who doesn't dig their guitar/bass/snare gets rid of it, what could be wrong with that? Play the same instrument for 30 years, switch your rig up every 3 months, whatever, right? Fuck if I know. There's gotta be a bunch of folks out there who would be happy with this bass (assuming the electronics were finally put right), the only question is, do any of them have the cash right now. I know I would dig it, but don't have the $.

I'd offer a straight trade for my Marshall Major, but that wouldn't help with that whole new bass thing. I guess I could throw in my Ibanez Soundgear SR-800 for free if that would make the deal?

Exactly.

He bought it, he has lived with it for almost a year and he wants to sell it.

Happens every day folks.

Besides, this bass was clearly made for the rock n' roll music. Fly has ditched the rock so he can devote all of his time to the sweet sounds of Flamenco.

Now, who wants to buy this beautiful guitar?

Damn Geddy Lee, too bad you weren't looking to trade and it's also too bad you're not into a 78 P-Bass.

That EGC is nice looking.

I bet if you recorded yourself playing someone's Ric clean and direct, I guarantee you that I could make my P-Bass sound exactly the same.

yes because electric guitars dont start to behave differently once they are in an amp do they? dick. but im up for the challenge. we'll all learn things - such as how deaf to details you obviously are. because straight into anything, 4 track, pc, whatever, the tb500 sounds extremely different from any guitar i own. But wait! so do most of my favourites! and, i bet, even different to your ibanez studio (which i actually happen to think is an awesome guitar but your pissing me off with your rediculous bullshit)

then, after that we can get really sad and get into a tone battle with every guitar ever. hey - how about we dont plug them into anything!? then im sure you can get a virtually indenticle sound with your ibanez - wait, hold that thought, run to the press - if you dont plug an electric guitar into anything they all sound the same. fuck me this guy is on it.

anyway, back on topic (i apologise) scott, and to follow up the other part of your message, sadly the only reason why i keep my egc at the moment is because he, kevin who is a great guy i might add is changing the body shapes and im hoping in 10 years it will be worth more money. certainly not because i enjoy playing it so much. i have other guitars that i would be gutted to sell, and thats nothing to do with their value - i just like them. for example, i have an aria pro 2 thats worth about £100 that is one of my favourites. salut fly - if you dont like it sell it. someone else will love it im sure then you get that ricky that you will love like a new limb.

Hey, ask around. There are lots of those Uni copys out there.
The second part of your post is nonsense.

I know it's nonsense, it was in reference to Scott saying he could get any tone from his Ibanez.

I get it now, you thought I was directing my comments about a trade to you. I was calling tDF Geddy Lee because of his strong Ric desire. Damn I'm dumb.
