Thanks man! Gonna see the Gristle as well for sure.

43I'm considering going to this paris show, eventhough I'm in Israel. What the hell, I'll go to Paris for a while. I really want to see MIB and BP.
Dear Bob,
I didn't get your last post in this thread. Everyone in this forum likes Shellac, lots of people here would like to help you book some shows(yeah, even if you can do it yrself/already haev connections) and most people here will show their appreciation for you guys. Big deal, so people posted here asking you to play some gigs close to where they live. This thread shows nothing but fondness and appreciation to the band you're playing in and your post, in my opinion, shows nothing but disrespect to the people who like your band and posted in this thread. Perhaps people are driving you nuts with pm's to come and play in their town, still, I don't think that's a nice attitude.
Good luck with your tour, maybe I'll get to see you play in one of those dates.
eliya.

44Traditionally, Shellac tend to play shows in places that are interesting or the sort of locations you might want to visit for reasons of leisure or intellectual curiosity. Since the band is a hobby which happens to allow them to visit places that they like going to for recreational reasons, it is sort of ridiculous to expect them to play every town that has Shellac fans. I'd also get tired of hearing "why aren't you playing in Town X?" if I was in Shellac.
The thing is, you have to meet bands half way. Shellac have never played anywhere that I have lived but I've seen them a whole bunch of times over the years because I appreciate that if they are coming all the way from Chicago, it's not going to kill me to travel a fair distance myself. That's the compromise with a band like Shellac and I honestly think it's a fair one.
This time the show is in Paris so I guess I'm going to Paris. It's not like they are forcing me to go.

45Hi Tommy, I don't know if your post is a reply to mine. I'm not criticizing shellac for playing venues which aren't in my street. I just had a problem with this attitude.
Sure it'll be great if the played in Israel, or for others if they played near their homes, but they don't and that's ok. I don't give them shit about it.

46I wasn't referring directly to your post, eliya.
Just a thought about the fact that whenever Bob posts about Shellac, we inevitably have lots of folks complaining about why they won't play closer to wherever. Since this is the only place I ever find out about Shellac shows, I'd like Bob to continue making these threads.
I hope you make it to one of the shows.

47I never considered these posts as complaints. It always seemed to me like all these people would just like to see shellac playing somewhere closer to them. There's nothing wrong with that, there's also nothing wrong with a band wanting to play wherever the hell they want to.

48Fair enough.
I think you're right, it's basically a misinterpretation thing.

49Bob Weston wrote:Uh, yeah. So, when I post dates for a shellac trip on this here forum, I do it as an informational courtesy. It's not really a request for help to make the tour longer, or to find out about what other cities on the planet Earth have some shellac fans that would come to a show. We have google maps and google earth and whatnot over here.
Also, I don't post a tour until it is completely booked and sorted out (i.e. start and end dates are definite - plane tickets may be purchased already - any days off are there on purpose for either travel or rest). Things may change very slightly after I post something here, but we're not looking for more shows on an announced trip.
We may be in the UK in the fall. (no suggestions needed - we are familiar with the British Isles)
best,
Bob
but trying to convince you to play somewhere you haven't played before is such good fun...and google earth doesn't have a "taste Sardinian cuisine" function.
anyway, have a nice trip!

Fucking wow.
If i were rich globalist sellout elite, i would totally spend money on traveling to France for this.
If it's any consolation, remember that Ricky-Bobby (and dozens of other non-globalist sellouts around the world) is very proud of you.
