Just about every time I hear "I See a Darkness" by Johnny Cash.
and like a sprinkler after seeing my little brother who just got back from Iraq, and told me that the reason he joined the army was because all his friends were getting into drugs and he saw what they did to me, and wanted to do something good with his life, and didn't know what else to do...
Now that I'm clean, I cry for others in the pain that I know all too well, or for joy that i'm still alive, and I have people around that care about me, and that I have the ability to help other people stay alive.
oh, and at the m. o. b. show a couple months ago, I cried like 4 times. Just the power, the beauty, the old songs, fuck. How great they still are. That show was critical...walked home on a cloud.
When Did You Last Cry?
43this only half counts, because i was able to preempt the cry. but i just watched the bubble puppy video again, cause i dig it so much. and that reminded me of the mogwai animated video (for Hunted By A Freak, on the Matador website) and i brought that one up. and i had to minimize the window and just listen to the audio, because as soon as the first shot of the tied-up bird came on, i immediately reached the verge of tears as i anticipated the shot of the hamster. i cannot watch the shot of the hamster, and especially with the music bed, it is unbearable. this is absurd. but it is fact. therefore, the last time i cried was about 30 seconds ago, but i preempted it about 1:30 ago after having begun to well up. damn that video, for its powerful cartoon cuteness/sadness!

44big fish.
wow.
during the final 15 minutes of that movie i thought i was going to explode. i was squeezing my [then] girlfriends hand so hard, my heart was pounding, i was sweating bullets...because i knew if i just let one tear out i was going to start sobbing.
looking back, i wish i hadnt held it in. i thought it was such a beautiful movie.

When Did You Last Cry?
45My pet rat Zim was fighting a major respiratory infection and couldn't breath normally. We scheduled an appointment to get him put down and my girlfriend was telling him that he didn't have to hang on for our sake, and that it was OK if he couldn't fight anymore. He then died in her arms. She cried, and everything hit me. She left the room to go dry her eyes and I was there holding a dead rat... Petting him and crying.

46'family' comercials always get me a little misty...
but a full on cry? Geez... gotta be close to 9 years.
kinda f'd up if you think about it. Maybe I should go cry on my wifes shoulder for a bit.

48i don't often cry - i get misty but a full-on cry hasn't happened in probably 9 years or so - i dunno if it's a dryness issue or something to do with my tear ducts or what...... certainly it's not because i'm not emotional. the last time i misted up was when an incredibly good friend of mine, probably my best friend in the world save for my wife, suggested that his band may need me to serve as keyboard/sample/sequencer guy for a national tour. that definitely gave the waterworks a little push.
When Did You Last Cry?
49Geez, I was thinking of the film Big Fish even before I reviewed the previous posts. I was okay until the final scene, the death bed hospital scene, but I had that same scene in real life a few weeks ago, so there you are. (Umm, minus the fish part. She was more bird-like.)
When Did You Last Cry?
50Every time I listen to "The Big Ship" of Another Green World by Brian Eno. That chord progression just sounds so damn sad that I usually find myself weeping uncontrollably.
