Not crap, with a touch of grey.

They could be the shittiest musicians on the planet, but by virtue of being integral to the foundations of the psychedelic revolution of the '60's and the distribution of LSD until Garcia's death, as I see it, this band had a much larger positive impact on society than 100 bands of greater musical prowess.

haha.

i can respect them to a degree, but i dislike their music. i do however thank them for the bay area shows which provided me with essentially every hit/drop of acid i ever took.

not crap for that alone.

I have been caught off guard by Dead songs a few times in the last 6mos (am I usually ON GUARD against such things?).

They sounded pretty good. These particular songs.

I was at my friend Karl Hendrick's house a few months ago. He had this huge Dead box set. Turns out he loves them. Never would've guessed.

So I bought Wake of the Flood and Workingman's Dead, which I haven't heard since I was sixteen.

Will get to them at some point. I'd actually kind of like to like them, at this point in my life.

I have casually considered, any number of times, picking up American Beauty and/or Workingman's Dead, the two "rootsy" Dead records that so many Deadheads (and others) are certain I will enjoy. Up to this point, though, I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. Let me know what you think.
