I don't like boxing, but I enjoyed "Your Capn" getting KO'ed repeatedly in this thread. What a classic Internet combo of ignorant and arrogant.

Boxing is definitely brutal. There's a reason for all the head injuries.
Yet, it is something primal, basic sport, human vs. human. I always thought it was telling how after a match the two fighters seemed almost apologetic about how a few minutes earlier they were trying to maim each other.
Part of that is the fear that they must feel before the fight. Imagine warming up in the dressing room, knowing that the man you are about to fight is pretty much your equal. There is no cheap way out. You have to put it all on the line to get what you want. Boxing is all about facing your own fears and limits and surpassing them.
That's what's beautiful about boxing.

For fans of boxing and people who want to become fans of boxing, one of the sure-to-be-great fights of the year is two days away.
Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez fight Saturday night on Showtime. It is guaranteed to be otherworldly.

Not crap.
The first Barrera-Morales fight in 2000 is something I will never forget as long as I live. On the flipside the current state of the heavyweight division, which should be boxing's flagship, is extremely crap and rather depressing.

Not Crap.
I can't believe how crazy some of these dudes are.
I used to watch boxing with my dad quite sometime back and I've developed a strong appreciation for it.
Although, nowadays I tend to watch PRIDE fighting based out of Japan. I'm pretty sure the best fighter in the world fights under that organization and his name is Fedor Emelianenko.

Watched undefeated middleweight, John Duddy, from Ireland, fight on tape last night on MSG network. It looked to me like he took a lot of punches and lost the fight. The judges gave it to Duddy. There was another fight a while back, an undercard to Roy Jones Jr., at the Garden. That fight was horrendously scored. These judges are either completely incompetent, or they're on the take. That's what sucks. Aside from the obvious corruption, a boxing match is a beautiful thing to watch. A sporting event at it's most pure--two guys beating the shit out of each other.
I'll watch any fight.

I get to shoot a UFL event next month, and I'm really excited about it. I've never shot MMA before, only boxing.
I like the hitting.

Pride is no more. It was purchased and dismantled by the power hungry UFC. Fedor has signed with a new organization, M1. The problem with that is, his new organization does not have any other fighters within its ranks that come close to what Fedor is, and this is hurting the widely held opinion that he was the number one heavyweight in the world.
