llllllllllllllllllllllll wrote:Is there a significant different between the sound & reliability of the 400RB and the 800RB, or am I better off going with whichever I can find cheaper?Biggest difference is wattage (400RB is 200 watts, 800RB is 300) and the 800RB has the bi-amp thing.I've never lacked for volume w/ my 400RB, especially with the 1x15 cabs.

If I had a 400 in front of me for $200 and an 800 in front of me for $300 I would buy the 800, but I couldn't ever justify getting rid of my 400 for an 800 because it was always completely fine. had a 2x15 with EV15Ls and was great,

My 800RB is doing a weird thing. I plugged the amp into the speakers and tuned it on and it's making a high pitched buzzing noise. Nothing is going into the input, the speakers are connected correctly as I've always connected them, and the cables are fine. Any idea what this could be?

Any idea what this could be?Do the front panel controls have any effect on the sound? That will at least narrow it down to the preamp or power amp section.

This happens even when there's nothing plugged into the input. I suspect it's the power amp, but I can't think of what happened to damage it.

Any idea what this could be?Mine was doing this exact same thing and it was freaking me out a bunch. I turned it on a week later and it was fine, haven't had a problem since. Still a little worried about it though.

It's probably at least 20 years old at this point, right? Components don't last forever.

If I were still playing bass, I would 100% pick up a GK800RB. They are cheap and plentiful. I learned the hard way that all tube Bass amps aren't all they are cracked up to be. GK800RB + 2 TL606's w/ Eminence Kappa-lite neodymium speakers would be perfect for me.
