After I read that line I thought, "but what about the Mr. T Experience?"

this sorta half counts... i just saw a gig this week, at a church in Park Ridge. picture this...

six or seven hippy-looking kids (obviously with dreads) playing music that sounds like a cross between a drum circle and an opium den.

the band played in a church because they're Christian. they're also total activists, both spiritual and political. their purpose is to be a wakeup call and a call to action.

it only half counts in this thread, because although the reason i went is because my gf used to be roommates with the band's leader back in philly. but i enjoyed it. it was really fucked up, and the kettle drums were way too loud, but i definitely enjoyed it and am glad i went.

in like '97 i got dragged to a 'mineral' show. it was mostly delicate boys in sweater vests crying about being so delicate.

not only was the show horrible, i got sucker punched in front of the club afterwards. still have the scar.

good times. good times.

bon jovi
ratt

I haven't read read all the posts in this thread very closely, so, am I really the first person to say Ani Difranco?

I do not like this Ani Difranco's music, but her fans, there's a sad little demographic. Because, in retrospect, I appreciate that it’s not easy to be 16 year-old girl in this society – or a 25 year-old woman with a pea for a brain – I will not say I hate these people. But were it not for sociological reasons, the Ani Difranco fan would be a very easily despised creature.

For whatever reason I once read an interview with Mizzz Difranco in Ms. Magazine wherein she said, without equivocation, that her fans were so obnoxious and disrespectfully vocal during her performances that she had seriously considered never playing live again. I think she went so far as to say 'I hate my fans.'

It would require serious heat to overcome this triumvirate of suckitude.

Good God almighty. Holy Mother of Christ.

B.J.C., I would hand the crown to you right now -- if only out of pity. You have suffered enough.

i had to see kings of leon and supergrass in order for my friend to see hot snakes and pj harvey with me. supergrass was really good, kings of leon- i just dont like them. when it was time for hot snakes she absolutely hated it. i was having a lot of fun and whenever i looked at her, her arms were crossed and she looked upset. i think that sucks because it was one of the best shows i have been to.
