is the Heat is On worse than All she Wants to do is Dance?

I think my mom actually liked this song, as I remember hearing it an inordinate amount of times as a small child. I didn't like it then, and I certainly hate it now. However, I feel compelled to point out that after

"all she wants to do is dance!!!!!!

and make romance!"

The poet Henley follows this up with

"she can feel the heat!

comin' off the street!"

...making two incredibly irritating rhymes, and pointing out a bizarre fixation of both Henley and Frey with "heat" being "on the street". WTF? It is then followed with

"she wants to partay (ooooh!)

she wants to git-down (ooooh!)"

So terrible. It's a hit!

Worse even than this? Keep in mind that she was singing a duet with a cartoon animal here.

oh, and:

(The Eagles) never did anything tolerable, but I can ignore most of their songs.

I think you are neglecting "Journey of the Sorcerer." This is a fine track.

Yeah, I think it's marginally worse than "Opposites Attract". Plus, that's the song that launched the long and storied career of MC Skat Kat...

I hope I go my entire life without hearing this song.

Another reason "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" is a bit worse than "The Heat Is On" is because the former also has something to do allegorically with U.S. involvement in Central America in the Reagan era, or at least that's what Don Henley intended.

"Smuggler's Blues," with its head-shaking tale of corruption and greed, is Glen Frey trying to write a Don Helney song, and let's just leave it at that.

It would be easy to make a top 5 list exclusively from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack.

I have not.

You're going to want to avoid it, then. Likewise the 6-part BBC show, and possibly even the movie if they use the same theme as the others.

But if you do somehow stumble across any of the above, you may be surprised by how listenable the theme song is. That's all.

placeholder,

I understand what you have to say about much of the Aerosmith catalog. However, "Rocks" is a great rock record. I am not kidding. It's tough and tense, and every song is a complete winner. I'd put up "Rocks" against most other rock records. "Rocks" is, as they say, quite an achievement. It's well worth your time.

Plus, it's called "Rocks". So nice.

Okay, back to the slop. How did I forget Terry Cashman? He is responsible for both "American City Suite" (as one half of Cashman & West) and "Talkin' Baseball".

These songs are terrible. Listen to them here (songs 5 and 19) and prove it to yourself! However, please keep in mind that you will not get the full seven minute treatment (and the three distinct "movements") from "American City Suite". It's actually worse than "Carry On Wayward Son", which, if nothing else, is louder.
