I was wondering if anyone up there went. I saw them in ABQ earlier this year and they were so good. I really enjoy seeing bands who are very much in the moment of the show they’re playing. “This is what we do, we love it and we hope others do too.” Kind of thing.

I went away from the show noting how very important their rhythm section is. Brian and Nick were super impressive, and I listen to them differently now because of the show.

I mean that as great praise.

Saw Big Brave open for Sunn in the before times and they were great too. That’s a great bill I hope someone up there saw…

Circuit des Yeux was interesting. Intense; probably better suited as the main act in a smaller venue. Similar story with other opening acts.

Pavement was… Pavement. I loved it.

Keeping an eye on shows in October and November... one of these days I'll make it to one of the smaller venues.
The onstage proposal killed it for me.

They are done, or so they say for now.

I had the good fortune to find out Brett Netson of Caustic Resin was playing with Earth the other night (thanks Greg). Greg and I went, and Brett really juiced it. He's still one of the best guitarists I've seen. Really really good unselfconscious, natural rock guitar player.

Tomorrow (Saturday): Kali Malone is playing her outstanding drone organ music at Rockefeller Chapel. FREE tix but you might want to register here. Stephen O'Malley from SUNN O))) is accompanying her on some pieces that require two set of hands to play.

Also Saturday: Tar is among others playing the Smashed Plastic anniversary party at Smashed Plastic.
