Got my ass handed to me a couple of nights ago by The Medium, a terrifying mockumentary/found footage film about shamanism in Thailand. It runs a little over two hours long, but trust me - your patience will be rewarded because once in kicks into high gear...holy shit. Strongly recommended. It defies social norms in a few parts, so the squeamish should look elsewhere for entertainment. One of the best horror films I've seen in some time.

On Shudder

While not particularly scary, I watched the classic House for the first time in eons last night on Shudder. George Wendt FTW. House II is also on there.

Shit, this sounds awesome. Definitely giving it a watch this weekend.

Hadn't heard of this one either but I'm sold if George Wendt is in it.

I'm dying to talk about it, so let me know what you think after you finally give it a go. There was nervous laughter and screaming! Fun times.

Not really lesser known, but watched Kathryn Bigelow’s Near Dark again the other night. Remains great!

Climax messed me up.

The Disappearance of Willie Bingham broke me. A distressing twelve-minute Australian short about the horror of man.

Not quite a horror movie more a creepy psychological thriller/farce: The Ninth Configuration (1980), written and directed by William Peter Blatty (author of The Exorcist) and starring Stacy Keach. An obscure box office flop about soldiers losing their minds with a fine ensemble cast, some neat plot twists and lots of unsettling weirdness.

Saw The Dead Center recently, and I'd definitely file that one in the good-not-great-low-key-low-budget-horror category.
