Finally playing this tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Was introduced to the excellent, co-operative Spirit Island during the week. A demanding firefighting experience, and I really enjoy the theme of opposing colonialism.

Spirit Island may be my favorite game. It can really hurt your brain after awhile, but there's so much to love. Each spirit plays so differently, so the replay factor is huge. Also, like you mentioned, awesome theme.

The creators are working with Target to create an exclusive version that simplifies the game a bit to make it more accessible. It's supposed to come out this fall in the states and I think they're also releasing it in other countries.

Currently playing Cascadia, which is simple to pick up but surprisingly thinky as it progresses. Lovely game.

Had a great time with The Quacks of Quedlinburg today. A really fun push-your-luck game that brings out your inner gambler something chronic.

Thanks - I’ve been interested in this one.

3 recent plays:

Calico - a mostly non-competitive game featuring fabric print patterns and cats. Has an easy mode and a hard mode. Pleasant and easy to teach.

Wingspan - lots of people will tell you this game is good, and they are correct. There are a million expansions. If you like birds, you will enjoy.

Hike! - a dog sledding card game that has two phases of roughly equal length: preparing for the race, then running the race. Less successful than these other 2 but still plenty of fun. If you are big on huskies, you can likely overlook the flaws.

Currently playing the new 2nd Edition of Pax Pamir which is brilliant but really needs at least 3 players (ideally 4+ I'd say).

Curious about the Escape the Dark… series. They’re sold out everywhere currently, except for expansion packs.

I have Return to Dark Tower, which is really cool but also too demanding for a lot of the people I usually play games with.

Finally got to grips with Nucleum:

Quite a few moving parts and very thinky, but it's intuitive and brilliant once the mechanics click into place. Excellent game.
