I bought one a few weeks ago when they first went to $70 off. I A/Bed it against my 57 and like it a little better. It's a tad less aggressive sounding. Will I notice the difference in a mix? Maybe not. It definitely has more output than a 57 though. The rolloff switch is a nice add. Was hoping to eliminate a stand but I can't figure out how people get them to dangle over their amps on axis because the damn XLR lock is on the face instead of the back.

Why isn't the Heil PR31bw ever on sale? (I mention it because I still like it even a little better than the 57 and e906 on both guitar cabs and snare. But do I like it $270 worth?)

I keep thinking the same thing about the Royer. They made a huge jump in price years and years ago. R-10 though looks like it would get me there...but even then $500 for a dedicated guitar cab mic is a lot for me as little as I record anymore.

I might sell mine (I think I'm done trying to get great drum recordings from home), but yeah.. honestly those Cascade Fat Heads would get you like 98% there and they'd still be a little cheaper than what I'd sell this for.

(that said I was able to find mine new for $400)

Oh, I love my R-10! It's become my favorite guitar cab mic. Lately it's basically all I've been using at home for recording guitars. Still nice to have a second mic for blending. The R-10 also sounds great on drums and acoustic too. (I think they're also $60 off right now, which is still more than Brian got his for).

Garth, you should definitely buy Brian's! If I didn't already have one I'd be all over it.
