JFC! You aren't kidding, I wasn't aware they've been reissued - and with a pretty serious price hike.
This feels like it could go under "talk me out of it." I'm not at all a synth expert but the price these are going for, seems like you could do a lot better.
They're pretty limited (which admittedly, might be a good thing) in capability, but they do sound good. Not sure they're $500 good - and did I mention mini-keys? ick.
If you're remotely considering a Microkorg for ~$500, I would STRONGLY consider going for a Monologue or Minilogue, brand new at the same price point...

I was going to suggest as much myself, but on the other hand, the limitations of the microkorg I think are part of its appeal to some folks.

Also the vocoder capability which the Mono/Minilogues don't have.

What are you all using for a volume / monitor controller?

I'd like something that can has a headphone output as well (with separate volume control) and things like mono, dim are nice features.

Do any drummists out there have experience with back-friendly drum thrones? I suspect my cheapo stool is exacerbating my sciatica, and I'm in pretty decent shape otherwise (I use a standing desk, do core exercises a few times a week, etc.) What have you tried, and did it help?

I use one with a relatively soft cycle style seat, but no back. For me, just sitting at the optimal height, so my knees are close to a 90 degree angle, is the most important to my back staying ok over long sessions. Also, stretching, before, after and during.

Something like this

Yeah, that might be enough. I'm using a $30 Tama throne that's as hard as a bus seat.

Not to go all off topic but:

Super important. Especially the after.

I got back into playing guitar seriously last year, after about a 20 year hiatus, and got to where I playing for hours every day. Which was great. What wasn't great was that I was always playing with terrible, hunched-over posture, and never doing any stretching. I could feel my shit getting tighter and more painful but I'm a dumbass and just kept at it.

And then one day I went to strum a chord and my right thumb was all tingly and weird. I freaked out, put the guitar down immediately. Didn't play at all for pretty much the whole summer, spent new guitar money on weekly massages instead. Started stretching all the time. Still not totally 100% better but I can play just fine.

When my hands first went south, I was pretty sure if I just rested, got help, started stretching, I'd be ok, and thankfully I am. But I didn't KNOW, and wondering if I'd permanently fucked up my hands and wouldn't be able to play guitar anymore was scary.

So don't be a dumbass like me!

there's a few things you want to avoid skimping on when you are a drummer. the throne is one of them, you spend so much time on it. get one with a comfortable seat.

So I'm a bit worried about this. I haven't played all year and only a little the previous year. I'm wanting to work it back into my schedule, but without even starting to play I'm worried my wrists are a little clicky. I don't really get what is up as I don't even type nearly as much as I used to (and have become more strict about keyboard ergonomics), No pain, but I haven't really tried playing either.
