What the fuck?
Mammals* never reached New Zealand until those bastards (humans) arrived, so the native fauna are unusually ill equipped to survive things like rats, cats, weasels, etc etc. As a result Kiwis have an ironically robust attitude to foreign animals.

You can distinguish an Australian from a New Zealander by showing them a photo of a possum. The former will find it cute, whereas the latter with fall upon the image with a heavy implement, attempting to murder the furry devil.

* Except for marine mammals and bats
As a lover of endangered bird/parrot species, I can appreciate this.

"Dildo Man Photographs Huge Ice Penis in Canada"
Article begins:
"A man from the town of Dildo, Canada captured images of a remarkable penis-shaped iceberg off the country’s east coast."

You'll know a country person is behind the wheel if a possum or rabbit runs out onto the road and they swerve to hit it. The cat-killing thing was an extension of rabbit-killing competitions which have become an Easter tradition; they call it the Easter Bunny Hunt.

This isn't an earth-shattering or even unexpected headline at this point, but I do like the subtle irony:

Zoom tells employees to return to the office

What. The. Fuck.

“Peggy Jones was mowing the grass when a snake fell from the sky. While the snake was gripping her arm, a hawk swooped down and began to viciously attack her.”

Seems like an unlikely but possible occurrence. (Hawk catches snake, snake manages to free itself from hawk, snake lands on woman, hawk recatches snake.)

Still less harrowing than some of the animals in Australia.

I don't think we will ever get a better one than this.
