43Honestly, a regular 4001 is clanky enough in the bridge position. Mine sounds more aluminum than the Kramer XKB I had.

44Part of why I got rid of my 4003 was that it really didn't sound ALL that different from either my TB2000 or EGC w/ single coils.Krev wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:00 pm Honestly, a regular 4001 is clanky enough in the bridge position. Mine sounds more aluminum than the Kramer XKB I had.

45But this will really stand out when I resell it for a loss on reverbKrev wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:00 pm Honestly, a regular 4001 is clanky enough in the bridge position. Mine sounds more aluminum than the Kramer XKB I had.
That is interesting though. I bought a bolt on EGC neck to build something clangy and only settled on 4001/4003 body because its' objectively the coolest bass shape

Re: The Return of the Bolt-On Aluminum Neck Info Thread
48I have a Robot Graves neck that I got to replace the neck on a squier Jazzmaster. It never "set right" with the trem, so I put the wood neck back on - I actually prefer it for this build, and the tremelo is perfect now.
The neck is going on an offset routed for tele pickups (telemaster? Jazzlecaster?) And a hard tail.
The nut was slotted high, but the guy (Justin I think) does this purposely so you can have a luthier set it to your preference. Can't fill a metal nut in with bone dust and glue and refile.
I like the RG neck. It's a bit tubbier than an EGC neck, came with locking tuners, and dude even did cool little purple inlays for me.
The trem may have been my problem, my local guy has never worked on metal necks besides mine. His being cautious and respectful compounded with my wrong handedness added complications to the process.
I appreciate the transparency and updates RG provided. He was (and probably still is) a one man operation. I hope he makes a fuckwad of cash and makes his neck and weird little doohickeys in perpetuity.

49Looks like Bastin is making some necks and full guitars again?

50His instagram account seems to be teasing that. Anyone have more info?
