He’s a comic actor and writer rather than a comedian.
Personally I think he’s a bit of a one trick pony. The Office was great because he channeled every shitty, self serving asshole you’ve ever worked for. The kind of manager that smiles while they fuck you over.
But overall he’s basically Frank Spenser from Some Mothers do have Them. A grindingly awful British comedy from the 1980s. He’s the Pixies of comedy. Fantastic and cutting edge within a mainstream framework 25+ years ago but completely irrelevant now.
