It was smallish, not a full rack width like most nice pieces of stereo equipment, maybe 2/3rds of that in width. Nothing fancy, more likely a department store cheapie from the 60s or 70s. I think the faceplate was silver and the sides and top were wood. I saw a picture of one in somebody's IG story and asked them what it was and they never responded and the pic expired.

The main thing I remember is that round dial with the glowing green numbers at night.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Could it have been the Advent receiver?

I figured out it was a Panasonic RE-7412. Thanks though!

Ok I did the research, and that skull cave scene is almost certainly from Goonies. I'm also quite sure I never saw Goonies, and the skull cave scene isn't in a preview, so that sorta leaves "walked into the wrong theater for a minute," but that's lost to time.

I'm still leaving the door open a crack for it being Temple of Doom, which I think I saw prior to seeing the first Raiders movie (was likely too young in 1981 for the face melting stuff; I was a sensitive child).

I just did! Great movie. I didn't really watch many of those "kids have incredible adventures, thwart adults" movies back when. Goonies, Stand by Me, Red Dawn, Legend of Billie Jean etc.

Watch immediately, multiple times.

One of my favorites.

Oh yeah, Stand by Me is incredible. I saw all these as an adult, and love them all, except, maybe, Red Dawn, which is a whole thing.

I’ve been listening to the new Mary Timony song over and over again. There’s a line in the song that says “Give me the answer to the question of,” and I remember that line being in some popular rock song in the 70’s or 80’s. I’ve been driving myself nuts trying to remember who it was. Anyone know?

Is it the line at the end of the chorus of The Reflex? (Timestamp takes you to the right place if you click.)
