What I'm trying to say is that if someone attempted to woo me with the sax solo from "Just The Way You Are" I'd get married so hard. Not enough wooing via song performance these days.
Ooh, I better get practicing.

Dang, nevermind.

"You are musician?"
"Oh, no, I just write songs a little."
"What kind songs?"
"Oh, I don't know. They're so terrible."
"Ah. Love songs."

Unfortunately I don't think I have enough working knowledge to build a playlist by heart. I know all the artists and songs, but could never connect the two without googling lyrics and such. Fun fact....Crystal Gayle is not only the sister of Loretta Lynn, but her stage name is taken from Krystal, which is the hick equivalent of White Castle.

Skewing 80s, and leaning more towards the "soft" and less towards the "rock", here's twelve in the spirit of this challenge (I think)....

The Korgis - Everyone's Got To Learn Sometime
Genesis - That's All
Gerry Rafferty - Night Owl
Judy Tzuke - Stay With Me Till Dawn
Leo Sayer - When I Need You
The Whispers - And The Beat Goes On (a little too R&B/disco maybe?)

Thompson Twins - Sister Of Mercy
Billy Idol - Sweet Sixteen
Bonnie Tyler - It's A Heartache
Marillion - Kayleigh
Bruce Springsteen - Tougher Than The Rest
Dan Hartman - I Can Dream About You

("Night Owl" absolutely rules BTW, and fills that yawning "Baker Street" hole perfectly)
"What am I gonna do with 40 subscriptions to Vibe?"

I talk disjointed music-related guff over here. You're welcome.

I heard this song early this morning and it made me chuckle because for decades I had assumed it was made by The Five Heartbeats.
Streets of Fire Soundtrack

Interesting bit of trivia about the song in the film.

"Dan Hartman's selection "I Can Dream About You" is the most successful song from the movie, and became a Billboard top 10 hit in 1984 (also from his studio album of the same name). In the movie, the song is performed on stage at the end of the film by 'The Sorels', a fictional doo-wop-style group consisting of actors Stoney Jackson, Grand L. Bush, Mykelti Williamson, and Robert Townsend.[5] However, the song was sung for the film by Winston Ford, whose vocals were lip-synched by Jackson in the movie. While there are thus two versions of the song, only Hartman's version was released commercially."

Good film by Walter Hill that also features Lee Ving of Fear.

The fucking 80s, man.

Oh, and Diane Lane, goddamn, she will always be one of my crushes.
