Re: The Olivia Rodrigo Scream
43Listen dumbass, for the third fucking time, she’s not a teenager. She's the same age as John Lydon was at the time of "Anarchy in the UK." That and most of the music we talk about on this forum was created by young people. It’s totally fair play especially when she’s trying to emulate something in the realm of the music typically discussed here. Hence, the Breeders, etc….
Re: The Olivia Rodrigo Scream
44I like the detail of someone holding her hair back as she 'vomits'.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

47This "20 year olds aren't teens" thing is kind of a weird pedantic hill to die on, but I guess we all have our hang-ups.
But circling back, I listened again to this "American Bi*ch" song, and yeah, if she wants to criticize patriarchal expectations of women - I think that's fucking awesome and I hope people are inspired by that. If she wants to punctuate it with some shrill scream then fine, I'm on board.
Re: The Olivia Rodrigo Scream
48It was because people are saying it’s unfair to critique her, as she is a child. But all of our rock and roll heroes were in their early 20’s when they were at the top of their game, and we critique the shit out of them.twelvepoint wrote: Fri Sep 15, 2023 1:07 pmThis "20 year olds aren't teens" thing is kind of a weird pedantic hill to die on, but I guess we all have our hang-ups.

49In my defense I was saying it’s unfair to critique her because I’m old as shit.
