Don’t worry the Emperor of Man is silently waiting for another 28,000 years to reveal himself after the Age of Strife.

Facebook is still this for me, but maybe I'm in their key demographic I dunno. I can't think of more than a couple of people I know and care about that don't have a facebook account, though many of my IRL friends don't post much. Myspace was fun for a bit but it wasn't as condusive to spirited discussion. Of course nothing compares to the Electrical Audio Forum v1, but that was only "real people" for Chicago area FMs until the BBQs started bringing the global PRF Massif together.

At Neil Young’s request, we are no longer using Facebook for any Neil Young related activities. Meta’s use of chatbots with children is unconscionable. Mr. Young does not want a further connection with FACEBOOK.
🧠 Here’s the context: Recent reports—most notably from Reuters and TechCrunch—revealed that internal Meta documents permitted its AI chatbots to engage in “romantic or sensual” conversations with children. These guidelines were part of a 200-page document titled GenAI: Content Risk Standards, which outlined acceptable chatbot behavior across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp

📉 Examples from the leaked document include:

• Chatbots telling an eight-year-old: “Every inch of you is a masterpiece – a treasure I cherish deeply.”
• Roleplay scenarios where a bot responds to a high schooler with lines like: “Our bodies entwined, I cherish every moment, every touch, every kiss.”
• Guidelines that allowed bots to describe children in terms of physical attractiveness

Meta confirmed the document’s authenticity but claimed the examples were “erroneous” and have since been removed. Still, the fact that these were approved by legal, policy, and engineering teams—including Meta’s chief ethicist—has sparked outrage

Keeping minors off social media: Good

Banning minors from social media requires an overwhelming degree of control over YOUR access to the internet, as an adult. Have fun uploading your fucking driver's license to Google and letting the government immediately track everything you do on the internet.
