I don't have anything new to say about this album. It is deservedly celebrated. The band was good through Animals. The Wall became too theatrical and on the nose.

Yeah, you want to crap Floyd because of the Beato crowd, but they were frequently fucking awesome.

My favorite misheard lyric is attributed to "Dogs."

In the end you'll caca
fly down south
Hide your head in the sand

Now you will hear it too.

Tons of hiss and dropouts. I told my dad that it sounded like crap, and he said, "there's a reason I played that cassette so many times." The tape eventually snapped. After that, I probably only ever heard the singles on classic rock radio. Never bought my own copy.

I interned at Blackbird studio in Nashville for a few months in 2006. One night I was cleaning Studio C. You know, George Massenburg's room, the one with the crazy diffusion panels everywhere:

Anyway, there was a SACD 5.1 surround copy of Dark Side sitting there on the console, so I fired it up and absorbed side A. It was kind of transcendent, listening to it in that room, on those speakers. Wish I could have finished it, but I had to leave.

I still think about that every time I hear something from this album.
Jesus Christ : )

I like it despite all the horrible over the top soul vocals on Great Gig in the Sky. I hate that shit so much.

WYWH is pretty fucking good. I occasionally find myself singing the title track after a few beers. Something about that vocal track that really moves me. I'm not much of a PF fan either.
