Most bands, sooner or later.

But! -- A big one for me is Bill Callahan / Smog. A River Ain't Too Much to Love is a top-10 masterpiece for me, but things fell off quickly after that. I bought the next 4-5 records just to be sure, but only a few random tracks ever stuck with me.

I lost track of Spoon after Gimme Fiction, then got back into them again a few years ago, and they've been putting out consistently solid stuff the whole time. Every record has at least 2-3 jams.

Guided By Voices for me as well. I typically pick up one of the several records Pollard releases a year, and they occasionally surprise me, but I haven't heard a true anthem from him in a while.

I still love the first 4 Wilco albums. I also love Nels Cline, so I was very excited when he joined. Caught them live between AGiB and SBS and loved what he added to the band. Then SBS comes out and I'm like, "You have Glenn Kotche and Nels fuckin' Cline in your band and THIS is what you came up with?" Was very disappointed. I saw them a few times since but none of the post-AGiB songs grabbed me enough to want to check out an album.

Additionally:

Melvins - Hostle Ambient Takeover would have been a great time to stop
Teenage Fanclub - Favorite band. After Gerard Love quit, hard pass.
Iron Maiden - Anything I have heard post-Fear of The Dark has been at a concert, and when they say "Our new album..." that is my cue to grab a beer. (I also think there is an argument that No Prayer For The Dying doesn't really need to exist either.)
I just realized there are 5 albums prior to them losing me but that’s because I frequently forget that AM exists lol.

I saw them at the fair park music hall after AGiB and they were stellar. My eyes were on Nels the whole time, but that whole band is terrific.
As a basic, IPA drinking dad, I keep up. I'd recommend Ode to Joy as an almost slow core piece of well textured minimalism and Star Wars as a swaggery almost glam rock (for them) sound. Those are opposite ends with some more middle of the road albums in between. If you wanted to peek at what they've done after their imperial phase those would be my two recommendations.

It's funny, and I think it's true throughout this thread, but once you kinda move on from something, re-engaging is hard. I intend to listen again at some point, but you know. There are a lot of records to listen to.

Okay, I forgot about Ode to Joy. I did dig into that one quite a bit when it came out and remember thoroughly enjoying it. It came out right around the time my best friend died unexpectedly so that is probably why I kind of blocked it out. Maybe I will revisit it one day. Maybe.

There must be a good eight Deerhoof albums that I haven't heard at this point.

Built To Spill. I don't think I've heard anything after Ancient Melodies
Depeche Mode after Songs of Faith & Devotion
Roxy Music after Siren

A ton of 90s stuff. Haven't care a lot for any post Pavement project. Any Frank Black project after Trompe la Monde. Dinosaur JR. after Without A Sound. Superchunk after Foolish. SY after Dirty or about half of Washing Machine for sure. Flaming Lips after Soft Bulletin, Stereo Lab after Cobra Phases, Tortoise after TNT, I could probably keep going for along time, something about bands that hit in that decade just didn't keep the fire in to the new millennia. Yo La Tengo have a bunch of stuff I've never heard and I love everything through And Then Nothing... Jesus Lizard after LIar. Metallica after Puberty.

I think it's to your benefit if you checked out of Metallica after 1991 at the latest.

I mean, I watched Some Kind of Monster because it is hilarious, but yeah, I've never heard Load or any of that shit.
