I got my box yesterday and listened to about half of it.

I wondered how I missed this band before!

The Peel Sessions disc is amazing.

In fact everything I've heard so far is amazing.

NOT CRAP!

Here's a question.

The version of Made Available that comes in the box set has the exact same packaging as 1000 Hurts.

The older version of Made Available that I once owned was different.

Did they just happen to use the same tape box as inspiration for that art work or did one band do it first and the other followed?

EDIT: That "did one band do it first, and the other followed" part sounded stupid. What I meant was either:

A)Was there an earlier version of Made Available (prior to the one that came out in like 97 with the white cover, band photo and orange and gray letters) that had that black and red cover and then Shellac found the inspiration for 1000 Hurts there.

or

B)Did the dudes who compiled the newly released box set use that cover with 1000 Hurts as inspiration.

Or were they completely unrelated.

That still isn't making a lot of sense.

I was introduced to this band about a year ago by a friend, and like others here, both rejoiced at having found such a treasure, and bemoaned that I had not heard them sooner. I'm about to buy the box set mentioned here (Salut! friendly informer).

Another band that might be up This Heat fans' alleys is Circle X. Contemporaries with somewhat similar aesthetics. I tend to play these bands back to back when I'm the dj on a road trip. It is dangerous driving music though. I am not a musician, but I play a mean air-drum/guitar/Neubauten trash heap when I listen to these musics.

Finally got mine last week.
For some reason those dudes sent to my old Baltimore address even though I gave them my new address.
So it got forwarded out here only to be sent back to Baltimore because of postage due. ?!?!?!
Luckily my mom was able to ship out to me.
Anyways, the box is fucking nice as shit and the little 3 centimeter disc that's hand numbered with my name on it is a nice touch.

So I've heard a few mp3s, I like them a lot, and am thinking about dropping $100 on this boxset.

Everyone pretty happy with the contents/value?

BadComrade wrote:Live video of This Heat. This was floating around the torrent sites about a year ago (I think in VCD format). It's worth watching if you're super in to them and have never seen video of them.

there is a "related videos" box on the site, first three videos are this heat performance, but the fourth one... this day by whitney houston. made me laugh.
