Ultimate Thunderdome: Fugazi vs. The Jesus Lizard
402I think that Glueman video fucking rips, man.
I saw both these bands numerous times and I have to say I'd rather see a Fugazi show tonight if I had my choice.
Trust me TJL comes in a close second but Fugazi, man. It's Fugazi.

403Absolutely. Fugazi made incredible progress as songwriters. No offence to the Jizzy Lizzy but when they tried to vary their sound, they created a lot of pap.
I remember seeing the last Fugazi shows when they had a second drummer and they had the could select songs fom any record. The songs from Red Medicine onwards were the strongest compositions by some distance. Material like 'Oh' and 'Ex-Spectator' is highly nuanced compared to their earlier stuff, which is still great but comparatively simplistic. Fugazi got better and better. I'm gobsmacked when people don't appreciate this.

405Not according to the poll results!
There was a girl who attended my college who was into Fugazi. She was nerdy looking with glasses and a cardigan. She found the Jesus Lizard intimidating and said the videos made the live shows look terrifying. She was one of a handful of people I've met who was remorseful about never being able to see Fugazi live.
Fugazi have a much wider appeal and it's probably got a lot to do with their conduct at their live shows and the fact that they never made a bad album.

408So, this i the ultimate thunderdome? Were these the best bands of the 90s?
Ultimate Thunderdome: Fugazi vs. The Jesus Lizard
409Pretty much.
As much as I absolutely love the Fugazis, i'm a little burnt out on them. This has yet to happen to me with TJL. So they win, for me. Till next year, anyway.
