Greenwald has been on a downward slide for a long time. So sad to see.

Yeah, Joe Rogan really shit the bed on COVID-19 and vaccine hesitancy. There's just no way of looking around it. He should stick to subjects he actually knows something about, unless this is all some psyop to kill off his fanbase. If that's the case, your guess is as good as mine as to why, but if I were one of his listeners I'd get my advice about the pandemic elsewhere.

My wife said she completely lost her sense of smell for several days, but as of this morning it thankfully has at least partially returned to normal without any weird distortions.

She talked to her doctor this morning, who said that now that she's had COVID (at least once) and it was this bad, she's susceptible to getting it again this bad. Though the USA is on the verge of approving boosters for all adults, my wife will have to wait three months to get a booster since she just had COVID.

I strongly suspect I passed COVID to her when I returned from travel a couple of weeks ago. I'll be in line to get a booster as soon as I'm eligible.
FWIW, I count as a front line worker, so I got my booster already, but when I set up the appt through CVS, there’s no vetting they do for your eligibility. There’s a button you check that asks if you’re eligible according to the CDC guidelines, but that’s it. If you want it, just sign up and go get it. It’s not like there’s a shortage and you’ll be taking it from someone otherwise deserving.

Of course, some would argue that it’s taking doses away from other countries, and that’s true, but that argument is at the political policy level, and this decision is a pragmatic one.

Yeah, that's something I do think about for a moment but then reach a similar conclusion. I mean, some countries don't have enough food or clean water, let alone vaccines. What are we gonna do, not eat because of it?
Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your wife.

You should make your booster appointment now. The list of qualifying health risks is really, *really* broad and includes such things as a BMI of 25 or higher, mood disorders, and smoking (both current and former).

I got mine yesterday.

What we NEED to do is suspend patent protections for the mRNA vaccines so that other countries can ramp up production themselves!

So grateful my 40 mile a day commute on buses and trains to work is over and I can finally work from home for the first time ever. With this new Omicron variant appearing it's been like February 2020 all over again. Last weekend it was all "It's only a few cases, it's not arrived in our part of the world yet, nothing to worry about". The exact same thing people were saying before Covid originally hit the UK in late Feb '20. Now we're are at close to 145,000 UK deaths and there have been over 30 cases of Omicron here in the UK in the last week. For all the efforts that have been made (or not) to limit the spread, I predict that sadly it will become the dominant variant in the UK in short order.

I wasn't due for my third jab til February, but they are bringing it forward to a three month gap instead of six, which means I can get it much sooner. I'm expecting side effects, the first dose made me puke when I woke up after it, and I was feeling crap for three or four days. Second dose not so bad, but I expect having a different brand for the third will make me sick and achey again for at least a day or two. Worth it though - last thing my dirty asthmatic cigarette smoking ass needs is to end up in hospital or worse. If you haven't already, forget the bullshit and just get jabbed, people! Don't be a f***ing babby about it.

Bless the NHS

"Do your own research. I have." With all the other evils and horrors in the world this still ranks right up for inflicting profound sadness upon me.

I had my third Pfizer shot a couple weeks ago. First two made me feel a little "off" but nothing major. My wife was more adversely (but still not badly) effected by all three. I just had a sore arm after the third.

I have noticed, and I am not the only one, that my body odor has changed since being vaccinated. Of course this could just be due to increased cortisol levels or other stress related factors. In any case, my unscented Tom's of Maine deodorant smells sour now when I use it. Weird. But I have been stressed (we all have) since March 2020.

I’m skipping a family get together because I’m pretty sure at least some of my family aren’t vaccinated. I got a response stating it’s understood, even though the vaccine doesn’t work very well.

Oh really?
