ironically, the bridge has been switched for a tune-o-matic to "fix" this problem

I noticed that and chuckled a bit - the issue w/ those I think is just as much that shallow break angle as it is those weirdo saddles

Agreed- the low break angle is what kills these- TOM or mastery can 'help' but the fundamental problem remains. While the body and neck are comfortable, the knob placement, weird/non-functional electronics and poor break angle/bridge issue prevent me from ever really wanting one. prefer the mustang myself.

I’ve got an old Mory Jazzmaster where the strings are almost flat across the (Mustang) saddles - obviously you can’t thrash it but it does something magical to the sound and it’s super comfortable to play.

I wonder if some brilliant lunatic has ever tried a different tailpiece in a different position, closer to the bridge. Would definitely be an aesthetic shift as well as a functional one.

Roland TR-08 - do I need an 808 clone? Probably not, but someone selling it cheap and me 10-20 years ago would have killed to have it. I will probably run it through some pedals twice, have a blast and then trade it to a friend for something. That friend will do great things.

Fender did this with the Classic Player MIM line and the 50th anniversary Jags (plus a few other "pro" models). Not to my taste but better than a buzzstop I guess.

Mastery is expensive but fixes the issue better than anything else I've tried
