"Drinking heavily may be the key to staying happy and healthy in later life, a study has found.
Researchers questioned hundreds of people aged over 60 attending hospital for routine surgery about their mood and quality of life, and compared this with the amount of alcohol they drank.
One third of the participants were classified as drinking “potentially unhealthy” quantities. This included those who enjoyed a drink at least four nights a week or people who regularly had the equivalent of two bottles of wine in a single day."

Morrissey was way premature on that declaration. I think living a lavish lifestyle at the tax payers' expense is conducive to a long, healthy life.

I'm mostly indifferent to royalty but I really hate people who love royalty. My sympathies for what UK inhabitants will have to endure over the coming weeks.

No disagreement from me here, though it is and will continue to be weird referring to the commonwealth's head of state as a king and not a queen.

In further nonagenarian news: Jean-Luc Goddard died at 91. Was he the last one standing from that generation of film makers?

Holy crap, didn't know that bastard was still alive either.
A guilty displeasure of mine - I haven't been grabbed by any of the Godard I've seen (Vivre sa vie, À bout de souffle, Alphaville and some other I can't remember the name of) EXCEPT Masculin Féminin which is superb. Too much of time-specific quirk and modernist cliches (or what has come to be recognized as such). I would probably find them interesting on a theoretical level though, and I guess I should rewatch them since it's been a long time.
